Just at the end of Charlotte
Harbor, Pelican Bay offers a protected anchorage
with excellent holding. Cayo Costa State Park offers a wonderful
beach. This should be fun for boat sailboats and
power boats.
Overnight boats arrive on
Friday, June 27 and raft up in groups of 3 or
4 depending on the weather. Day boats arrive
by noon on Saturday and either raft to the overnight
boats or take a temporary slip at the
Ranger Station docks Bring a picnic lunch and
beverage (sorry, no alcohol) and we will meet at the
Cayo Costa Camp area pavilion. Cayo Costa
State Park admission is $1 per person.
Transportation across the island is available at no
charge. After lunch a Local Ranger will give
us a brief history of Cayo Costa State Park.
Cayo Costa is a great beach for shelling or just
beach combing and the island is a birding paradise.
You may even be able to visit the residents of
Manatee Hole.
The following
website will give you directions but please note:
MARKER 72 IS NOW MARKER 74.
If you go to #72 you'll come to a sudden stop!

Please note in
Comments whether you'll be staying overnight or just
Saturday.
We will need a
volunteer to lead the Saturday boats safely to Cayo
Costa.
